Actually, I can say I’m not really a Sabahan…because I was born in Labuan…Labuan now is a Federal Territory (just like Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, declared since 1984)…tapi bole la considered as Sabahan di atas sebab2 yang berikut:
- Pasal no ic di tengah (yang menunjukkan negeri mana lahir tu) is 12 which means Sabah…start from my brother sampai la my sis yang paling bungsu, semua dah pakai nombor 15, means lahir di WP Labuan..(sesiapa yang lahir after FT declaration dalam tahun 1984)
- because my mom is Sabahan…orang Ranau…tapi aku dengan adik aku selalu cakap, mama orang gunung…hehehe…pasal Ranau kan di kaki gunung…for those yang tidak tahu where is Ranau (ni mesti tidak tgk AF2 ni, kan si Linda tu dari Ranau..)..Ranau is a beautiful district in SABAH yang ada pelbagai keistimewaan…especially for it’s Hot Spring Park di Poring…lama suda aku nda balik sana…huhuhuh..
- aku sendiri pun, since sudah lama tinggal di West Malaysia ni..kalau orang tanya aku orang mana, aku cakap ja aku orang Sabah…sebab sebenarnya ramai lagi orang yang fikir yang Labuan tu dalam Sabah (even kalau dalam urusan rasmi kerajaan pun masih ramai lagi yang buat alamat Labuan, Sabah…I’ve never seen such address yang letak Putrajaya, Kuala Lumpur or Putrajaya, Selangor…never mind, some people just cannot get it)…
Tengah2 Sabah ke?"…hmmm…confuse aku…bukan tengah2 Sabah tu ada banjaran ka…some people just don’t have the talent in Geography…nampaknya walau si Ekin masuk AF pun, still tidak bole literate orang tentang kewujudan Labuan…
- apa2 pun…aku bangga mengaku aku orang Sabah…hehe…because I know Sabah state song…(nasib baik aku masuk SMAKK dulu, kalau tidak, haram la tidak tau)….
Have you ever asked or heard people asking,
whether Sabahans still live on the jungle, hunt for
food and wear clothing made out of leaves?
If I was asked so, I would proudly say yes.( Cuba imagine Marsha AF2
pakai Nipah leaves skirt sama Coconut bra) hehe.. (ya…aku pun dengan sinis akan jawab yes juga… tapi aku siap tambah..kami tinggal atas pokok, ada lif lagi…)
When you as a Sabahan start to feel low just because you’re from
Sabah, these facts would make you change your mind:
We have the second largest International airport in Malaysia . While
other’s might not even have any.
We have three major airports, while others might not have one. (Labuan got one…no need to transit, ada direct flight either using MAS or AirAsia..)
Car fuel is the cheapest here. (True…don’t believe me ah..datang Sabah la..)
We have two official cities, KK and Sandakan and soon Tawau, while
others might only have a town.
We are still the reason why tourist comes to Malaysia , for our Mount
Kinabalu.
Two out of the top three of the sexiest girl in
Malaysia are from Sabah (Daphne Iking and Amber
Chia) according to FHM. (Nda la aku bangga sangat pasal ni…tapi Daphne Iking ni dulu senior aku tau…memang cantik…)
The whole Philippine country doesn’t envy Malaysia. They envy Sabah. (betul la…nda habis2 Pilipin ni…orang dia pun ramai jadi pelarian masuk Sabah…negara sendiri pun tidak dapat jaga…ada hati mau ambil Sabah balik tu..cheh…)
Sipadan Island , need I explain?
Everybody say’s Mokhtar Dahari is the main reason Malaysian football
team qualified for the Olympics, football event in the 80’s. With all
due respect, the two goals are scored by Hassan Sani and James Wong,
both Sabahan. Not forgetting the man who kept Malaysia at bay, Peter
Rajah, also a Sabahan as the goalie. (Hassan Sani ni pun orang Labuan juga)…
The most air travelers are from Sabah. Almost all Sabahan have
atleast traveled once or twice with airplane, compared to the west
Malaysians. (Even b4 AirAsia ni wujud pun, naik flight ni macam naik bas ja for Borneo people…ye la..kami teda highway kan…kesian..mau naik tongkang pun nda selamat)
We have our own daily newspaper, Daily Express and Sabah Times.
Every time there’s a reality show, our contestant always reaches
respectful level. AF, Blast-Off etc. (Tapi mesti susah mau menang bila suda masuk final tu…pasal undi pecah, orang Sabah ramai sangat jadi finalist…suara orang Sabah memang power…sama la macam suara aku kan…hehehe…perasan bah aku ni - mimang pun)..
We live in harmony, not just with Malay, Indian and Chinese, but also
with Kadazan, Dusun, Bajau, Murut, Rungus etc. The term Sabah truly
Asia is more like it. (memang setuju sangat2…we really can tolerate each other walaupun berbeza suku kaum dan agama - except for pendatang iaitu om, pilipin -…only when I stay in West Malaysia, then I can see - berbeza bangsa maka berbeza la puaknya - alah..orang melayu pun ramai yang tidak mengaku melayu lagi…heran apa la kan)..
Most of us Sabahan speaks at least 4 different language. (I can speak Malay, English, Malay Brunei - which is different dari Bahasa Melayu biasa, but still, tidak la mahir sangat…pasal suda lama tinggal di rantau orang kan, skill suda hilang…, Dusun - setakat faham saja - especially when my mom and makciks talk bad behind me…speak I cannot - bole la sikit2 -…)
This is just to name a few, but despite all this, we are still proud
to be Malaysian. Happy belated SABAH Day! (16 September 2006) ….Yezza
